Biography

Dr. Jennifer Wessol joined the undergraduate nursing faculty in 2018 after serving as an adjunct instructor the prior year.  Dr. Wessol has worked in clinical settings at Saint Luke’s Health System since 1999. Her clinical experiences include working as a Code Neuro Nurse, in the critical care float pool, and cardiac catheterization lab. She was also a staff nurse at Baptist Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

Dr. Wessol is an active member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses and is serving on the National Nomination Committee.  She is on the Editorial Review Board and is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Neuroscience and is an abstract reviewer for the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses  (AANN) for the Annual Educational Meeting. Dr. Wessol is a co-editor and chapter author in the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses Comprehensive Review for Stroke Nursing and has been a chapter reviewer for The American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, in the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses Core Curriculum for Neuroscience Nursing, 6th Edition.  Wessol is recorded session reviewer for the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, National Teaching Institute. Additionally, she has given conference presentations and poster presentations at local, national, and international conferences.

Dr. Wessol is an author with publications that include “Acute Flaccid Myelitis,” “Improvement of Immunosuppressive Medication Adherence using a SystemCHANGE™ intervention: Case study of an older adult kidney transplant recipient,”, and “A Systematic Review of Randomized Controlled Trials of Medication Adherence Interventions in Adult Stroke Survivors,” the latter for which she won the Novice Writers Award from the Journal of Neuroscience Nursing.
