Biography

Donna Gardner is the director of the medical assisting program and came to the College in 2017 to launch this program. She has been a medical assistant for over 30 years, graduating in 1986 with an AAS degree from Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

She is an experienced educator and administrator of medical assisting programs. She taught the medical assisting curriculum in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Everest Institute, served as a Medical Assisting Department Chair at South College Asheville Campus and was Medical Assisting Program Head at the North Carolina Community College system. She has also served as vice chair for the board of directors at a local family health center, Warrenton Community Health Clinic.

She has clinical experience in long-term care, clinical research, women’s health care, family practice, college health and at a plasma bank collection center. She has held a variety of medical assisting position including: medical records secretary, clinical medical assistant, triage specialist, scheduler, inventory clerk, referral specialist, and research coordinator. She is a member of the American Association of Medical Assistants.
