After identifying that inmates were constantly transported to emergency departments for health care, Brie Cantrell, MSN, RN, created a clinic within the Putnam County Jail in Cookeville, Tennessee.
Cantrell’s clinic reduced emergency room visits by 400 percent while she served as the nurse practitioner. Cantrell provided inmates with physical examinations, acute care, and chronic condition management. She also trained correctional deputies in first aid, CPR, and various health services.
Please join us for Nursing Behind Bars, a FREE continuing nursing education event. Learn about health care in correctional facilities and how improvements can reduce costs and improve outcomes for the inmate population.
Please RSVP below by May 1, 2017. Questions regarding the event may go to Laurie DeLong at 816-936-8724.
