Peer Mentoring Program Critical to BSN Student Success

The College provides tutoring to students as part of a peer-to-peer mentoring program. Peer Mentors are trained to facilitate learning and mentor students across cohorts. They facilitate regular small-group study sessions helping students to master course material and to prepare for examinations. In addition to offering one-on-one tutoring, they facilitate student learning in the skills lab.

Peer Mentors also serve in a leadership role for special campus events and assist during new student orientations. Peer Mentors are recruited based on ATI content mastery scores from the Fundamentals proctored assessment from the J1 semester and J2 semester, Exam scores in Foundations, Adult Health, PathoPharm I & II. BSN students with top scores are invited to apply and interview for a Peer Mentor position. The College employs 12-17 peer mentors each semester.
