College celebrates school start with a huge picnic

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 29, 2017)—The College Community celebrated the start of the school year with a huge picnic on Tuesday afternoon. “This was the largest crowd I’ve ever seen at the barbeque,” said Director of Enrollment Management, Josh Richards, MA.
Dean of Students Marcia Ladage, BS, pulled together the successful event. “It’s important to bring students, staff and faculty together to celebrate our diverse learning community,” she said.
Board members from Saint Luke’s College of Health Sciences Student Nursing Association (SLSNA) and Student Government Association (SGA) shared information on getting involved with College student organizations. “Elections will be held soon,” SLSNA President, Molly Murphy said in her speech. “Be sure to get involved with our terrific student organizations.”
Saint Luke’s Health System human resource representatives participated in the event. Representatives shared info on employment opportunities within the System. “Our partnership with the Saint Luke’s Health System and its clinical entities gives our students outstanding learning and clinical experiences,” said Dr. Benitez. “Few colleges are affiliated with a nationally recognized system, giving our students numerous opportunities after they graduate.”
“I have been at the College since last spring,” said Registrar and Director of Records Management Barbara Nutt, BS. “This is one of the most vibrant and welcoming colleges that I’ve ever worked,” she said.
