Barbara Meinke and Robert A. Kleist Endowed Chair announced

Saint Luke’s College President and Dean Dr. James A. Hauschildt has been named the Barbara Meinke and Robert A. Kleist Endowed Chair in Nursing.  This is the first endowed chair at Saint Luke’s College and was established by Barbara and Robert Kleist.  Barbara received her nursing diploma from Saint Luke’s in 1949, and the Kleists have also generously supported the graduate program, BSN scholarships and the College’s Simulation Center.

Dr. Hauschildt has served as president since June 2014, and previously as academic dean for the college.  He maintains his Missouri RN license, board certification in Nursing Informatics, and serves at the local, state, and regional levels for various accreditation and education agencies.  His research interest areas emphasize curriculum design, instructional practice, and informatics applications in healthcare and education.

Previous publications center on inductive instructional methods in traditional and online environments, and he's spoken on the topic nationally and internationally.  Through the support of the Kleist's endowment, Dr. Hauschildt will continue his research to further educational practice innovations in support of teaching and learning excellence.
