Melissa Lawson joined the Saint Luke’s College faculty in fall 2018. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Leadership and Management from Western Governors University in 2017. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Washburn University in 2014 and a Licensed Practical Nurse certification from Highland Community College in 2011.
Lawson maintains her clinical practice at The University of Kansas Health System where she works on the Cardiovascular Lab Pre/Post Unit. Prior to that, Lawson worked as a Nursing Supervisor at Westwood Treatment at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. She has experience working in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Family Progressive Care Unit and has long-term care and surgical experience.
Lawson has served on numerous committees including Rapid Response Team, Unit Based Practice Council, Department of Nursing Practice Council and Critical Care Update Committee. She was also an instructor for dysrhythmia. She is a member of the American Association of Critical-Care and a member of the Greater Kansas City Chapter of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Lawson is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support and ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Biotherapy.
